Be sure to choose and take advantage of your personalized offers by April 30, 2017, to get the most out of your next trip. Also, please take a minute to update your profile to ensure you stay on the right track.

Table extensions will be introduced gradually and will be available on request. This means you can now enjoy more surface area for your laptop, papers, books, meals, and whatever else you might need it for. A little goes a long way, so take advantage of this better use of space and boost your own efficiency while on board.

This beer, brewed in Montreal since 2011, has a refined approachable taste that will please both craft beer lovers and more traditional beer drinkers. In addition, it is brewed strictly with 100% gluten-free ingredients such as millet and corn, making it a great option for our gluten-sensitive passengers.

One of the advantages of taking the train is being able to sip on a nice cold beer as you speed toward your destination—remember to enjoy this perk next time you're on board. Cheers!

VIA passengers can take advantage of free shuttle service between the Dorval train station and Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. The service is dependable, and with shuttles leaving every 20 to 30 minutes, there couldn't be a more convenient way to catch your flight!

Our partnership with Discount Car Rentals provides passengers with a seamless connection upon arrival at their destination station. Due to the popularity of our existing QuickCarMC kiosks, new ones have been added to VIA Rail stations throughout the Corridor. They're now available in Windsor, London, Cobourg, Belleville, Kingston, Fallowfield, Ottawa, Dorval, Sainte-Foy, and Moncton.

Every kiosk includes a credit card reader and a driver's license scanner. The rental process is quick and simple, and a Discount agent is available by video chat to guide you through it. Customers can drop off their rental vehicle at the VIA Rail station.

Or, you can make your reservation online at www.discountcar.com and pick up the car from VIA Rail's parking lot before heading off to your final destination. How's that for convenience?

As the summer winds to a close, the vacation clothes get put away and the kids go back to school, it's the time of year when we all get back down to business.  My first order of business, as VIA Rail's new President and CEO, is to personally thank you for your loyalty and continued trust in our service. Offering safe, efficient and affordable transportation to our clients is at the center of everything we do, and why VIA Rail was created.

VIA Rail is a public service; the reason we exist is to serve the communities along the track and to connect people to their families, their friends and their businesses.  No matter what you do, no matter who you want to connect with, our business is making sure you get there safely, with ease, with pleasure and on time.

We are always looking for ways to improve our business. As loyal customers, your feedback is key to ensuring a service that meets your needs. But we won't stop there; our goal is to run a travel service that exceeds your expectations. VIA Rail will no longer sell paper Commuter passes as of February 1st, 2014.

Effective March 1st, 2014, paper Commuter passes will no longer be accepted on board VIA Rail trains.
 

If you still have a paper Commuter pass with unused and unexpired coupons, please visit a VIA Rail station ticket counter no later than February 28, 2014 to either:

  • Obtain a credit towards the purchase of a Commuter ePass, based on a pro rata of 1/20 of the original value of the pass per unused coupon.

or

  • Obtain a travel credit towards the purchase of a VIA ticket on any fare plan based on a pro rata value.

or

  • Obtain a refund to the original form of payment based on a pro rata value per coupon.

You can now make changes to your tickets online at viarail.ca and on your smartphone or tablet. Just log in to your profile and access your current bookings.

You can make changes to departure or arrival times, to the class of service (Economy to Business, or Business to Economy), or even change your contact information for this particular reservation if need be.

It's quick, simple, and you can make changes on the go. If some of the changes you wish to make cannot be processed online, you will see a message directing you to call a VIA agent or visit a station. Please note that changes to reward travel cannot be made online and need to be handled through the VIA Préférence Service Centre.

Starting October 31, Premier members travelling in Business class receive priority meal selection on board.

To become a Premier member in 2014-2015, you have to spend $2,000+ and travel at least eight segments with VIA Rail from April 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014.

Please note that this will not affect the meal guarantee policy: a Business class meal is guaranteed up until 30 minutes prior to departure of the train from its origin station. If a ticket is booked less than 30 minutes before departure from the origin station, VIA cannot guarantee a meal will be available on board.

VIA’s new Business class is coming

The new LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) Business class cars are coming and we hope you'll be among the first to try them.

In addition to mechanical and electrical system upgrades, the renewed cars offer passengers more space and additional legroom, thanks to the new seating configuration, which has one fewer seat per row.

The new reclining and adjustable seats are now equipped with an extra table to hold a drink or other items, leaving the drop down table free for a meal, documents or a computer. Complete upgrades to the car interiors also include renovated washrooms, carpets, lighting and window frames.

Refurbishment on the balance of the LRC Business class cars is underway and additional cars will be completed and put into service in the fall of 2013. The entire refurbishment is expected to be complete by autumn 2014.

After five years of shopping bonuses, the eBoutique will be closing its doors on June 30, 2013. The eBoutique has not performed as expected, with only a small number of VIA Préférence members taking advantage of this online shopping and accumulation opportunity.

All reward travel in the Québec City - Windsor corridor can be booked online at viarail.ca. No need to call, just click and redeem any time — 24/7! You can even redeem on your mobile device.

Simply log on at viarail.caThis hyperlink will open in a new window, select your desired travel arrangements (departure city, destination, class of service, number of passengers, dates of travel), and the number of required points will be automatically displayed on the review itinerary page and can be used at time of payment. This function is available for one-way or return trips.

The redemption feature will only show if you have the required amount of points to redeem the trip in your account.

Passengers now receive an email confirming their Corridor booking along with their electronic boarding pass, issued with a QR code. All they have to do is print the boarding pass or display it on the screen of their smartphone to have it scanned on board.

Electronic boarding passes will be available throughout the entire network by the end of the year.

Thanks to VIA Préférence, you can now redeem your points online when you book any trip within the Corridor.

This new functionality will allow VIA Préférence members to use their points instead of their credit card to book travel along the Corridor.

Once they are logged in to VIA's booking engine and they have chosen their itinerary, the cost of travel and points required will appear on the screen. On the payment review page, members will now have the choice between redeeming their points and paying with their credit card.

For now, this new option is only for travel within the Corridor, and members must have the required number of points for the whole journey—they will not be able to pay for a portion of their travel with points and the remaining amount with money.

Members like you have been requesting this for some time, and we're pleased to offer you this new functionality.
